Logline

A laid-off Detroit factory worker searching for a fresh start in a small Kentucky town falls for a local waitress and befriends a vulnerable janitor—only to find himself targeted by a violent ex-boyfriend and a corrupt sheriff after a brutal attack exposes the town’s buried darkness.

Synopsis

After losing his factory job in Detroit, Zack Taylor realizes his life has become an endless cycle of parties, dead-end routines, and meaningless relationships. Searching for purpose, he loads up his Camaro and heads south, eventually landing in a quiet Kentucky factory town where life seems simpler — at least on the surface.

Kate Jenkins once looked destined for a different future. A former cheerleader trapped in a stagnant small-town life, she now works long hours at a local diner while trying to escape the shadow of her controlling ex-boyfriend, Tommy Ray. Once the town’s golden boy, Tommy never recovered from walking away from a college football scholarship out of fear and insecurity. Now bitter, volatile, and increasingly dangerous, he refuses to accept that Kate has moved on.

When Zack wanders into Kate’s diner, the connection between them is immediate. Their growing relationship gives Zack something he’s never truly had before — a reason to care about where his life is headed. But their happiness quickly draws Tommy’s attention.

Zack finds work at the local factory, where tensions with Tommy escalate into open hostility. He also forms an unlikely friendship with Max, the factory’s quiet autistic janitor whose kindness and innocence make him an easy target for Tommy and his friends. When Max finally stands up for himself with Zack’s encouragement, Tommy retaliates with a savage attack at Max’s isolated cabin deep in the woods.

Max is left comatose and later dies under suspicious circumstances.

Convinced Tommy is responsible, Zack pushes for justice, but the town sheriff dismisses him as an outsider stirring up trouble. As Zack digs deeper, he uncovers a web of intimidation, fear, and corruption protecting Tommy from consequences. Torn between his violent instincts and the better man he wants to become, Zack risks losing everything — including Kate.

Desperate to expose the truth, Zack and Kate devise a dangerous plan to force Tommy into revealing what really happened. But when the plan spirals out of control, Zack is abducted and marched into the woods at gunpoint to dig his own grave.

With time running out, Kate races to save the man she loves as buried secrets erupt into violence — leading to a final confrontation where justice, redemption, and survival all hang in the balance.
